Well, hi.
I'm kinda new to guild wars.
Well, I'm not totally new, I have played it for some while ,like almost half a year. But I dind't really get the chance to play it, because I was very busy at school and stuff. So each time after a dry period I trew the chars I made away, because I didn't really remember where I left off. Plus all the characters I made sucked. Only One char reached 20.

One day I decided to throw away all my chars and completely start over.
Well, that worked. I got a nice level 20 char and 6 lvl 1-10'ers in a couple of weeks playing. It may not sound so good, but I don't really get the chance to play so..
Because I really started to like this game I bought prophecies, Nightfall and EotN.

Well, here goes my question.

How on EARTH do you guys keep up on the armor prices?!
I have not yet bought ANY armor in the game, but my R/E is having a hard time so I decided to buy her some armor from the first EotN city armorer guy. But that'll kost me like 10 k. Maybe I'm playing this game wrong but if I really buy it, I'll lost almost all of my money. I wouldn't really mind, but I have 7 other characters. Well, they need some armor and weapons too!
I recently found M.O.X. outside of Kaineng Center. Awesome. He has this mission that'll grant you 10 k. That would be great, it's just that my Ranger is not up to the quest yet.

I usually salvage all the normal items/weapons I get, and identify and sell the blue, green, orange and purple ones for the money.

So, is it just me? Am I playing this game wrong or something? Should I throw away my other 7 characters and focus on just one? Maybe focus on only 3 characters, one for each campaign?

Please some advice for a beginner.

Don't worry about it - it took me a while to get the cash for my first armour set, too. It got easier to get my newer characters their max armour after that.

Depending on where you're playing, it's also worthwhile to identify whites. You don't want to do this if you're in starter areas, but if you're in lategame/HM identifying whites can significantly up their value. If you pick up runes, check the prices at the rune trader before expert salvaging or selling - some runes are worth a lot, others aren't. (Off the top of my head, the ritualist-only shaman's insignias are worth a lot; vigor runes are always handy, etc. Something like Major Divine Favour, on the other hand, you shouldn't bother salvaging.)

Also, I'm not sure what you mean by 'the first EotN city', but if it's 10k per piece, you're looking at elite armour rather than 1k max armour, which may be why it seems so prohibitively expensive.

This, too. You may find that getting one character to later parts of the game will help mitigate the problem. As Windf0rce mentioned, the early/tutorial areas offer very small amounts of gold and drops, and you have lots of characters, all of which represent a pretty big drain on your Xunlai. (Not just armour and weapons; you need to get them skills, which also cost money.) Once you get one character to the point where the game starts giving you better drops and more gold, you'll find that it's easier to get the other characters the max armour they need. One step at a time!

I believe focusing on a single character for a while is more beneficial than starting several characters. The early/tutorial areas offer very small amounts of gold and drops (and a long part of Prophecies campaign too). Once you get towards mid-end game content, drops are better and gold comes faster - then your first character will provide your other characters with more wealth to play with.

Playing through Factions for example (primary quests and missions) will surely net you a good amount of cash to buy armor. Take every drop, ID and sell.

As said before, if it's 10k per piece, you're looking at elite armor. These don't have *any* gameplay advantages to the normal armors, and are basically vanity items. The normal armor is 1k per piece + materials. This is maximal stats armor - once you buy it, you don't need to invest again except to get prettier looks. Lower stats armors are much cheaper.

As most of my characters started in Factions, I can tell you the situation there: if you finish the newbie island, do all the quests there (in particular, do all the secondary profession quests, not just for the profession you want), and do a few mainland quests, you will have 10-15k. This is more than enough to get fully geared in Kaineng. I think Nightfall has the same situation.

However, if you're starting in Prophecies, by the time you hit Lion's Arch (and gain passage to EotN), it's too early in the game to have a similar cash flow. Advance a bit more in Prophecies.

You can also get a collectors armor - just gather monster parts and trade them for a single armor piece. Collector info is available at http://wiki.guildwars.com/wiki/Collectors

Look for collectors, they'll sometimes give you semi-decent armor in exchange for trophy items that aren't worth that much.

You can get max, but cheap armor in Droknar's Forge (Prophecies), Kaineng Center (Factions) and Consulate Docks or Command Post (Nightfall)
All the armor you get in EotN would be considered "elite" armor and is more costly. Of course, if you play the game enough you will eventually have more than enough gold to buy elite armors, but, as has been said, the elite armors don't have any stat advantage or the basic max armor.

(There may be other places to get basic max armor, I just can't think of them atm.)
